This is a great tool, and easy to implement. Is there a way of forcing it to choose from a wider group of videos on my network? Each instance of it I use seems to produce the same ones...

    Hi Tim,

Currently VideoRoll displays last 50 videos that were uploaded to your network. If there is a lot of interest, we may create one that allows you to pick which videos to feature in VideoRoll, or maybe add some parameters that would allow you to modify logic that decides which videos get picked. Let us know how you would like to see this work.

    Thanks,
    MS

    Hi MS,

That's really helpful. I think it would be fantastic to be able to pick which videos to feature, because it would allow you to create rolls with themes (e.g. film festivals, blondes, comedy, music videos and so on) out of the video library, or focus attention on a particular area of your library which isn't getting visits. The fact that you can have multiple rolls stored, with the ability to rotate them, would mean you could maximise the value of your library on different pages. If one day we can target individual group pages with custom content, it would be a very useful tool to be able to show off targeted videos.

    Tim

P.S. Incidentally, at the moment, my video roll is currently only showing the FIRST 50 videos uploaded to the library (and it's the same on other networks where I've seen it installed). This means that every time someone comes back to a network, they see the same videos they saw last time, in the same order, even when they navigate back to the page. If you're a regular site visitor, the display soon seems stale.

Thanks for the great feedback Tim... this is the kind of stuff we thrive upon because it lets us direct our energy into creating the product features that are in highest demand.

    Cheers!
