Does this replace the N*ng Migration? I had downloaded all my
members and was planning on uploading them to my SocialGo site.
Will I be risking duplicates if I do both
It does not replace it, no. But we suggest that it is a better
solution for most sites. Why? Because it allows your members to
instantly and automatically become members of your new site in one
step.
The other migration tools are bulk member import tools and do not
move the members' login passwords. As such, they require each
member to go through a password "reset" process involving emails...
which works fine, but is a lot more effort for the member than
simply logging in and "poof" being done.
I've been using it for several days now, and it works extremely
well. Members of the old version of my network seem to find the
whole process very easy - I've had no complaints at all.
ohhhh pleeease EG..pleae find a way for me to export my ENTIRE ning
site...you're so close man..i'm dying to get out of their..i dont
even want to approve new members anymore because ning is stealing
them all
1) Have you previously migrated members using the bulk migration
tool? If so, then their emails are already in the SocialGO system,
but without passwords. This now would require each member to use
the "reset password" option in order to gain access to their
profile. In other words, N*ngToGO would not work on that member any
longer because their account password is set to "blank" until they
log in and claim that email as their own;
2. What is your site URL (you can email us to
help@widgetlaboratory.com or paste it here). What is the email for
the account you are trying to use (email it if you want for
privacy).
We'll investigate.
Cheers!
