NEW RELEASE - SOCIALGO GROUP VIDEO MODULE

by Evil Genius on 7th Aug 2009 | View all blogs by Evil Genius

Evil Genius walks you through the Group Video Module from SocialGO, and shows you how to add videos specific to each particular group on your site.

This is a very handy way to build a video library that is specific to each particular group, while still being available to the rest of the site in your global video library.  Video after the break.

    I see that this is useful for an owner to feature selected group videos but it doesn't help with end users being able to upload videos to a particular group without admin involvement or for groups only being able to see videos for that group?... or am i missing something?

    @doymarn and Rachel

    You are missing something.

    With this new feature, ANY member of a group (not just admin) can upload videos to a group. That way, if one stays inside of a group you can filter out just the videos that were uploaded by members of that group.

    We agree, however, that it would be even more useful if there were an option to restrict whether videos uploaded to a group were shown to the rest of the site in the video library... but as it is right now, we do not believe that to be the case. We will suggest that SocialGO further refine this option.

    Cheers,
    EG

    Thanks EG, for qualifying... i think it is a must to be able to restrict videos to the group they were uploaded to, especially with talk that future membership billing will allow for access control to premium paid and free content areas... groups i would have thought were a natural for content segregation.
